Project Description:
HIPP will incorporate youth in the planning and implementation
of vital After School and extra-curricular programs to school
age children in the community, in an effort to build neighbourhood
capacity and provide a safe alternative for youth.
The program will nurture lives and bring about hope that will
inspire peace and restore fundamentals to a young generation.
It also provides an opportunity to give black youth the skills
that they can use to gain further employment, start their own
businesses and alleviate the plight of poverty and lack of resources
that often lead to conflict and crime. |

Project Description:
A rite of passage program that will develop life skills and community
involvement within Afro-Caribbean youth age 14-18 living in the
Jane and Finch community. Youth will take part in weekly formal
basketball training coupled with positive mentorship. They will
play in quarterly league tournaments and give back to the community
through monthly outreach activities. |

holistic development and world-class performance. |

RHYTHM is a multi-faceted training program developed to help youth

community awareness and relevant placements. RHYTHM will bring
freedom to participants by assisting young people in developing
a positive self-image and helping them become productive members
of society by addressing the whole person. |

| Project Name: Preventing Black Youth From Falling
Through The Cracks |
Location: Finch and Weston |
Project Description:
To provide a crime prevention program and youth empowerment through
community capacity building. Programs, workshops, events and seminars
will be provided for black youth and children in the West end
of Toronto, who are in trouble with the law or engaged in criminal,
gang and drug related activities.
The project will also assist youth who have dropped out of school
through tutoring, recreational, spiritual development, employment
and life skills activities. This is to help youth bring out their
full potential and also educate them on their rights and responsibilities
as law abiding citizens. |
